Meet Dr. Maggie McCarvill
The Family Business
Dr. McCarvill comes from a family full of dentists, from aunts to uncles and including both her parents, Dr. Michael McCarvill and Dr. Mary Yurchesyn. “Growing up, I would always hear from individuals, “your mom/dad are my dentist”. It made me proud to hear their nice stories of having a good experience at the dentist. I believe what my parents loved most about their job was being an integral part of their community and I look forward to growing my own patient family.
Education
Dr. McCarvill obtained her Bachelor of Science at Saint Mary’s University and followed in her parents’ footsteps and completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Dalhousie University in 2021.
The Art of Dentistry
It wasn’t simply growing up with two dentists’ as parents that influenced Dr. McCarvill’s decision to pursue dentistry. “What I love most about dentistry is the mix of hands-on artistic application and medical science. My mother is a local artist and all my siblings and I inherited a creative eye and love to work with different mediums. Dentistry was the best choice for me because it melded my two main fields of interest; arts and science.”
Outside of Office
In Dr. McCarvill’s down-time she enjoys being outside in nature, from hikes and camping in the summer time to skiing/snowboarding in the winter time, painting, or curling up with a good book. “I’m a Cape Bretoner, born and raised, and I’m new to the Valley but look forward to all the beautiful landscapes to explore”.
